About me
I am a qualified Cabinetmaker and Craft Based Technician, I have Masters in Applied ELearning and in Higher Education. I am involved in a number of working groups across TU Dublin including Intersectionality working group for Athena Swan Ireland and Universal Design in Learning, Universal Design and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
I have over 27 years teaching experience in TU Dublin (Former DIT) and have taught across all of the wood trades and on the Timber Product Technology Programme DT169 for the last 11 years and the Sustainable Timber Technology in 2021-22.
Strong advocator of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), was involved in setting up Women Building the Future Network. Access to Apprenticeship programme.
The Gender Identity and Gender Expression Policy which was approved by the President’s Group in November 2020.
The Athena Swan Ireland Intersectionality Working Group, which devised the ‘Race Equality Survey for Higher Education Institutes’. This was the first ever Race Equality Charter survey sent to the Irish HEI’s. Implementation plan 6th Sept 23
I believe that students learn by doing and use a constructivist approach to my teaching methods. I am an advocator of the Universal Design in Learning (UDL) and as such you will find that this website has been designed with the UDL framework in mind.
Material is available in both PowerPoint to allow your to change to a more suitable font and in PDF whereby you can use a screen reader.

This website will be developed as you progress through this term. It will be a valuable resource keeping all your content together in one place. This website will be used in conjunction with Brightspace. Virtual classes will be delivered through Bongo. You will be required to submit assignments through Brightspace. There is additional content and Theory and Maths Quizzes available on Brightspace.

Tips for Studying for Visual Learners
Organize work and living space to avoid distractions.
Sit in the front of the room to avoid distraction and away from doors or windows where action takes place. Sit away from wall maps or bulletin boards.
Use neatly organized or typed material
Use visual association, visual imagery, written repetition, flash cards, and clustering strategies for improved memory.
Reconstruct images in different ways - try different spatial arrangements and take advantage of blank spaces on the page.
Use note pads, Post-Its, to-do lists, and other forms of reminders.
Use organizational format outlining for recording notes. Use underlining, highlighting in different colours, symbols, flow charts, graphs or pictures in your notes.
Practice turning visual cues back into words as you prepare for exams.
Allow sufficient time for planning and recording thoughts when doing problem-solving tasks.
Use test preparation strategies that emphasize organization of information and visual encoding and recall.
